The Lawrence County Chapter of the NAACP is hosting its annual Freedom Awards Banquet Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Joe Wheeler Resort in Rogersville at 6 p.m.

U.S. Air Force Captain Kristian “Krissy” Diggs, Judge Advocate (JAG) will be speaking.

Tickets are $25 each. Reserved tables of eight seats are $250 each. All proceeds go towards funding for scholarships and youth activities held by the chapter throughout the year, according to Courtland First Baptist Pastor J.E. Turnbore.

Turnbore said all Lawrence County residents are encouraged to attend the banquet for the benefit of the community. The NAACP is the nation’s oldest civil rights organization and has been operating in Lawrence County for over 40 years.
