Jackson House raises $800 after raffle and Mellow Mushroom fundraiser

Glenda Lewis won a hand-carved sculpture by Philip Terry following the Jackson House Foundation’s summer raffle. JHF Director Tammy Copeland presents Lewis with her prize at the JHF fundraiser at Mellow Mushroom in Decatur on Thursday night.

The Jackson House Foundation raised more that $800 last week following a summer raffle and fundraising event at Mellow Mushroom on Thursday, July 18.

JHF Director Tammy Roberts said $400 was raised during the JHF Pizza, Pickin’ and Preserving fundraiser at Mellow Mushroom in Decatur. During the event, a portion of all food sales was donated to the foundation for restoration and maintenance at the historic home in Moulton.

A raffle drawing for the Philip Terry woodcarving also took place Thursday night. Roberts said the foundation began selling chance tickets for the sculpture in June and raised $400 by the time of the drawing.

Glenda Lewis of Decatur was the lucky winner of the handcrafted woodwork, she said.

“Thanks goes out to Mr. Terry and to the Mellow Mushroom for recognizing JHF at spirit night,” said Roberts.

The Foundation recently saw new HVAC installation at the Jackson House through its various fundraising efforts earlier this year and with the help of a grant from the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area.

Continuing renovation efforts will allow the home to be opened more frequently to the public as an optional venue space in Moulton, Roberts said.

The Jackson House is located at 119 College Street in Moulton.
