Lawrence deputies arrest man on theft and drug charges

Lawrence County deputies arrested one man on theft and drug charges after being alerted to suspicious activity in the East Lawrence community on Saturday.

Brandon Cottingham, 42, is charged with second degree theft of property, second degree possession of a forged instrument, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of a debit/credit card, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office. 

Cottingham had three stimulus checks and a debit/credit card belonging to other people on him at the time of his arrest, the Sheriff’s Office said. 

The arrest comes after patrol deputies were alerted to suspicious activity on County Road 434 in East Lawrence, according to the report. 

Cottingham was booked into the Lawrence County Jail on a $10,500 bond.
