Courtland’s monthly Vintage Market will be held on the lawn of the historic McMahon House on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Vintage Market, which is held on the third Saturday of each month, usually takes place in downtown Courtland. The event was relocated to accommodate for the Courtland Hawks Reunion that is taking place the same day, Courtland resident and event organizer Lisa Pace said.
Pace, who also owns and maintains the historic home with her husband Greg, said the McMahon House will host the Vintage Market one time, only.
“We want people to come out and experience our beautiful city, and see all our lovely homes that surround our gorgeous downtown park,” Pace said.
Built in 1828, the McMahon House is an ideal setting for the Vintage Market this September, resident Linda Peebles added.
“This is a one-time-only event, and everyone is welcome,” she said.
During the event, Pace said local vendors will display new items that include door hangers, floral arrangements, arts and crafts, repurposed furniture and quality antiques.
“There will be a photo with Betsy Ross,” said Pace.
Refreshments will also be available, and live music will provide entertainment for the enjoyment of market visitors.
The event is open to the public and free for all visitors, vendors and participants.
The McMahon House is located at 833 Hamilton Street in Courtland. The home is one of the last remaining federal brick style homes in North Alabama. Pace said the same family retained the house for 144 years before the Alabama Historic Commission coordinated restoration for the house in the 1990s.
The home is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
The Vintage Market is set to return to the Courtland Square in October.
