A Town Creek woman is behind bars after she allegedly tried to hire a hit-man to kill the mother of her son's child.
Sandra Hill Treadway, 54, was charged with one count of criminal solicitation after she was arrested by Lawrence County Sheriff's Department undercover agents and agents with the Lawrence County Drug Task Force.
Treadway allegedly attempted to hire a hit-man to kill the mother of her son's child because her son and the woman are involved in a custody dispute and she didn't want the woman to receive custody of the child, Sheriff Gene Mitchell said.
Once agents learned about the murder for hire plot, an undercover agent posed as a hit-man and met with Treadway. In that meeting, Treadway gave the agent detailed information, including the woman's address, a picture, and a tag number of her vehicle, Mitchell said.
She also gave the agent partial payment and said the rest of the payment would be made after the murder was committed, Mitchell said.
Agents then took that information to the potential victim and with her permission, staged her murder.
The agent took pictures of the staged murder scene and met again with Treadway, who paid him the remainder of the money, Mitchell said.
Treadway was arrested after that meeting.
She was booked into the Lawrence County Jail on a $35,000 bond.
