North Courtland resident displaced after Tuesday fire

Courtland Fire Department found visible smoke and flames coming from a house on Rosa Parks Street in North Courtland after firefighters were dispatched to the structure fire Tuesday morning. Fire Chief Scott Norwood said no one was at home at the time of the incident.

A North Courtland resident is displaced following a fire that broke out in his home Tuesday morning.

Willie Crayton was not at his home at 946 Rosa Parks Street when the fire occurred, according to Courtland Fire Chief Scott Norwood.

He said Courtland Fire Department was called out around 7:39 a.m. and found heavy smoke and flames showing from the exterior of the house by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.

Though firefighters were able to defensively attack the fire from the interior to extinguish it, Norwood said at least half the home had sustained significant fire and smoke damage.

He said no injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.

Hillsboro and Town Creek Fire Departments assisted in extinguishing the fire.
