Moulton man arrested on drug and theft charges

A Moulton man was arrested on drug and theft charges by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

Joshua Luke Letson, 31, was charged with first and second-degree receiving stolen property, possession with intent to distribute over eight grams of ICE/Methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (heroin), possession of drug paraphernalia, and State Parole violation, according to a report from the sheriff’s office.

Letson’s arrest came after Lawrence investigators executed a search warrant in the 500 block of County Road 245 in Moulton following a narcotics and property theft investigation, according to the report.

“(Letson) was identified as a suspect in several utility trailer thefts in Lawrence County,” the report states. “During the execution of the search warrant, an amount of ICE/Methamphetamine and heroin was located along with digital scales and small plastic baggies used to distribute narcotics.”

The sheriff’s office said over $5,500 was also seized and Letson was in possession of a stolen firearm at the time of his arrest.

Letson is being held at the Lawrence County Jail on bonds set at $33,500.
