A Veterans Day Parade and Celebration will be held in downtown Moulton on Friday at 4 p.m.
Parade organizer Loretta Gillespie said this year’s Grand Marshal, Col. Fred Gillespie, will also serve as the featured speaker for a ceremony on the courthouse square immediately following the parade.
Entertainment will be provided by Koyote Creek and special guests, and a flag commemoration from the American Legion Post 25 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8362 will also take place during the ceremony, she said.
Participants who are walking in the parade should meet in the Moulton Senior Center parking lot on Court Street by 3:30 p.m. Veterans may line up at the Moulton Lion’s Club beginning at 3 p.m.
“All others should line up in front of the Lawrence County High School at 3:00 p.m.,” Gillespie said. “This might change to the parking lot across the street, but there will be someone there to line you up.”
All entries, including cars, trucks, floats, ATVs and horses, must have a patriotic theme. They should display an American flag or patriotic symbol, she said.
Attendance as well as entry to participate is free and open to the public. To volunteer, or for more information, contact the Lawrence County Archives at 256-974-1757. Loretta Gillespie may also be reached by calling 256-476-1166.
