Celebrate Christmas at Pond Spring

Horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered to visitors on Dec. 9th.

Friends of General Joe Wheeler and the Alabama Historical Commission invite you to the annual Pond Spring Christmas Celebration on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Visitors will be offered sweet treats and hot cocoa while they enjoy outdoor performances featuring local choirs including the Bellview Church Choir and the Bellview Church Strings, Site Director Bruce Lipscombe said. The Wheeler Home will also offer horse-drawn buggy rides throughout the grounds during the celebration.

“A very special guest will be at this year’s celebration! Please be sure to bring your camera/smartphone to take your picture with Santa Claus.” Lipscombe is thrilled to be a part of the annual celebration as the new site director.

She said the Wheeler Home is looking forward to another successful celebration this holiday season. “We invite everyone to come out and enjoy the festivities, and we look forward to seeing you,” she said.

The outdoor celebration is open to the public, and as always, tours of the home’s interior will be offered for the price of admission. Adult tickets cost $8, college students, seniors and members of the military may purchase tickets for $5, tickets cost $3 for children six to 18 years old, and children five and under are admitted for free.

The Pond Spring Annual Christmas Celebration is a jolly way to kick off the merriest season of them all!

Pond Spring is located on Alabama Highway 20 near Hillsboro. For more information call 256-637-8513 or visit the Pond Spring Facebook page.
