The community of the Town of Courtland was the focus at this month’s Courtland city council meeting.

It was decided that every third Thursday would be Third Thursday Slow Down in downtown. The success of the first one prompted them to make it a monthly outing.

This month’s third Thursday will feature a movie, grilled food and homemade ice cream.

The Council is preparing for the town’s annual fireworks show, which is set for June 29 in the park.

The discussion for when the town vote on the sale of the electric will take place has been put on hold. The vote for the sale will be up to the citizens of courtland, but the Council voted to wait  on drafting the resolution that will set the dates for the vote until later. They are hoping to have the vote sometime this fall. Currently, the town of Courtland owns the electric. They will not reach out to any potential suitors until the vote is decided.

Courtland will be upgrading their water lines after receiving a grant from West Morgan/East Lawrence Water.

Next month’s council meeting will take place at the depot on July 8.
