Join Wild South staff for a hike to Payne Creek Canyon Saturday, Aug. 3.

The hike, a two-mile stretch roundtrip, will begin with Wild South volunteer Sam Calhoun in the Payne Creek Demonstration Area on Highway 33, north of the Sipsey Fork Bridge.

Hikers are encouraged to bring a pack with snacks, lunch and plenty of drinking water. Wild South also encourages hikers to wear footwear that will be protective against rough terrain and slick rocks as participants will be exploring the shallow creek during the trek.

All ages are welcome, but no dogs or smoking will be permitted. The hike is made possible through Wild South’s Alabama Outreach and Education Program and is free of charge. However, donations are appreciated and accepted.

Advanced registration is required. To sign up, email janice@wildsouth.org or call 256-974-6166.

Participants will meet at the Wild South Office at 552 Lawrence Street in Moulton at 9 a.m.
