Saturday house fire claims life of Lawrence County woman

Rebecca Johnson tragically lost her life in a fire at her home Saturday morning.

A Lawrence County woman perished in a house fire in the Caddo community early Saturday, according to authorities.

Rebecca Kay Taylor Johnson, 40, was pronounced dead at her residence on County Road 546 around 5 a.m., Lawrence County Coroner Scott Norwood said.

The cause of the incident has not been released as the Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office continues investigations.

Johnson’s body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensics in Huntsville for autopsy, Norwood said. No foul play or suspicious activity is suspected at this time, he said.

Caddo-Midway Volunteer Fire Department responded with Moulton Fire, Chalybeate Springs Volunteer Fire, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshal officials.

Updates will be posted as they are received.
