Trinity man arrested at his salvage lot for stolen vehicles

A Trinity man was arrested on Monday, Dec. 3 on three counts of receiving stolen property in the first degree.

According to a report from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Freeman RB Kirby, Jr., 54 of 5979 County Road 327 in Trinity, was arrested at his business, Kirby’s Salvage Lot, after a joint investigation involving the Sheriff’s Office and the Decatur Police Department.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said investigators located two vehicles that were stolen from Decatur in mid-November on Kirby’s lot.

Mitchell said Kirby told investigators he had purchased a third vehicle, which he had returned to the subject he bought it from. That vehicle had also been stolen from Decatur, the report said.

Kirby was taken to the Lawrence County Jail with bond set at $60,000. Mitchell said the investigation is ongoing.
