Courtland’s 43rd annual Picnic in the Park happening Saturday

Courtland’s annual Picnic in the Park attracts visitors from all over Lawrence County and surrounding areas each year. Visitors are pictured enjoying picnic festivities in a past event.

Courtland's 43rd annual Picnic in the Park, sponsored by the Courtland Community Revitalization Committee, is happening Saturday.

Picnic in the Park will kick off with the annual Children's Parade in downtown Courtland.

As always, the event will feature games and entertainment for the whole family, CCRC coordinator Lisa Pace said.

"Children's games will be provided by Cornerstone Church," she said.

This year's entertainment will feature Half Way to Nowhere, a bluegrass band, at 11 a.m. The Kelley's, a gospel group, will start at noon, and the Ray Sparks Band will perform pop-culture music beginning at 1 p.m.

The Picnic will also feature an Ugly Walk.

For more information or to register for the Walk, contact Lori McGregor at 256-566-8499.

As always, Courtland's Picnic in the Park will also offer great food from a variety of local vendors.

"We would like to invite everyone to come out and support this long-time annual event that has been celebrated in our town for so many years," Pace said. "The entertainment will be great, and there will be something fun for everyone. Spend the day in Courtland and enjoy the gathering."
