A 10-week Business 101 Course is being offered to Lawrence County business owners and employees of small businesses free of charge.

The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and The Entrepreneurial Center of North Alabama (TECNA) have partnered to offer scholarships to any Lawrence County current or future business owner who attends the 10-session course.

Classes begin on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at the Decatur-Morgan Entrepreneurial Center at 5:30 p.m. Sessions will be held each Tuesday at the center from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for 10 consecutive weeks.

Business 101 is a customized program that includes real-world expertise from small business owners, and it opens the floor to current and future business owners for questions and discussion. Topics to be covered in the program include business management and financial record-keeping tips, market research, start-up and ongoing costs, website assistance and the value of social media, and more.

Interested participants may register for the course by contacting Donna Whitten at 256-686-2999. Whitten is also available to answer questions concerning available scholarships and qualifications over the phone or by emailing donna@alabamaincubator.com.

Decatur-Morgan County Entrepreneurial Center is located at 1629 4th Avenue Southeast in Decatur.
