Lawrence County's former Chamber of Commerce Director Jason Houston passed away on Tuesday, May 5, according to reports.

 
Houston, 45, formerly of Hatton, was living in Brookwood, Tuscaloosa County at the time of his death.
 
Houston served as the Lawrence Chamber Director from February 2016 until July 2018, when he left for a position as the communications director for the Alabama Secretary of State office. He also worked for several years as a reporter for area newspapers, including The Moulton Advertiser.

"Jason served as the Chamber director for several years in the past and was instrumental in many programs, events and accomplishments for the LC Chamber and this community," the Lawrence County Chamber posted to social media on Wednesday. "We pray that the peace of God will overshadow his family and friends. May he rest in peace."
 
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Parkway Funeral Home.
