The Alabama Cooperative Extension System’s Power of Produce program is returning to the Lawrence County Farmers Market in Moulton on Thursday, July 18.

Children and parents are invited back to the Farmers Market from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to sample locally-grown fruits and vegetables. For every sample the child tries, he or she will receive $2 in POP Bucks to be spent at the Farmers Market.

POP Thursdays were introduced earlier this year as a way to get children excited about healthier eating habits while also supporting local farmers here in Lawrence County. The goal is to increase children’s exposure and willingness to try new produce, ACES states.

POP Thursdays will take place from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 18 and Aug. 1.

The program is sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America and the Rotary Club of Lawrence County.

The Farmers Market is located at 13182 Alabama Highway 157 in Moulton.
