The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8362 is hosting an awards ceremony for local heroes and community volunteers at Greg’s Ambulance Service in Moulton on Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m.

The awards ceremony, which is being sponsored by Greg’s Ambulance Service, is open to the public and free to attend, Post member Fred Gillespie said.

He said the VFW will award a local law enforcement officer of the year, an emergency medical technician of the year, and a firefighter of the year.

An award will also be given to a VFW selected Eagle Scout, a Patriot Pinning service will be held for an eighth-grade student who participated in a VFW program, and certificates will be awarded to recognize community service volunteers throughout the county.

Loretta Gillespie will provide finger foods and light refreshments during the ceremony, Gillespie said.

He said the service will be a great opportunity for local veterans and community members to fellowship and connect with other local residents and community first responders.

Greg’s Ambulance Service is located at 13414 Highway 157 in Moulton.
