Modern Woodmen of America and Mosaic of North Alabama are partnering for a unique community service project for NHC Healthcare Moulton patients.
Lawrence County residents and volunteers are invited to meet at Moulton Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 28, at 6 p.m. to help make skid-resistant socks for NHC patients using “puffy paint.”
“We will be decorating the bottom of socks with puffy paint to make ‘non-skid’ socks for the patients! My goal is to do 1,000 pairs of socks,” Modern Woodmen Financial Representative Amber Dunlap said. “This is a need for many patients. (Skid-resistant socks) can be hard to find, and some patients do not have families to provide this need for them.”
Socks and paint will be furnished by Modern Woodmen, Dunlap said. The organization needs several helping hands to pull the project off.
She said businesses and co-workers, church and school groups, and family members are encouraged to get involved together.
“I would love to have a good turnout and be able to do this every few months,” said Dunlap. “I’m also welcome to anybody reaching out to me to suggest more community service ideas we can do for our community.”
Dunlap said pizza and drinks will be provided to volunteers.
Participants should register by Sunday, May 26 by visiting https://www.allforgood.org/projects/5kVn2Xkz, or by calling 256-221-4048.
Moulton Baptist Church is located at 755 Walnut Street in Moulton.
