Monday morning fire claims Caddo home

Flames are seen rising from a home in the Caddo community early Monday morning. Caddo-Midway Assistant Fire Chief Darwin Clark said the house was a total loss following the blaze.

A Caddo home is considered a total loss after it was claimed in a fire that broke out early Monday morning, according to Caddo-Midway Assistant Fire Chief Darwin Clark.

First responders were called to the home at 1 County Road 499 around 3:39 a.m.

Homeowners Michael Mink and his wife were able to evacuate themselves and their two children safely, Clark said.

“It took three fire departments, five fire trucks and about 15 firefighters,” he said. “The debris had reignited, so we went back over there about 9:00 this morning and wet it down again… I wish we could’ve done more.”

Chalybeate Volunteer Fire Department and Moulton Fire and Rescue assisted Caddo-Midway volunteers, he added.

Clark said the cause of the fire is still undetermined.
