The Stephens Chapter National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution would like to give a special “Thank You” to all those who helped to make the 232nd anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787.

The DAR encourages education and historic preservation in communities across the U.S. Superintendent Jon Bret Smith signed a proclamation and invited us to speak to the principals who were given packets of information to help teach and celebrate in their respective schools.

Moulton Elementary, Moulton Middle School, Speake School, Lawrence County High School Band, and East Lawrence High School are to be commended for the patriotism shown in the parades and various student participation. The libraries in Moulton and Town Creek, the Archives, WALW 97.9, the Rotary Club, the Lawrence County Education Retirees Association, and the local Mayors are appreciated for their support.

Accolades to The Moulton Advertiser staff for excellent coverage.

A special thanks to all who participated in numerous ways by flying flags and helping to celebrate.

May God Bless America for its stand on freedoms that we sometimes take for granted, but cherish. Constitution Week is an annual commemoration of the living document that upholds and protects the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian of liberties central to our American way of life.
