In my opinion, the Lawrence County School System is extremely  content with the “good old boy routine,” and until we as citizens stand up and demand diversity in our school system, things will never change.

One situation we must be aware of, is listening to people in administrative positions who tell us no one is willing to relocate to Lawrence County, Alabama. I feel that this statement is false, only because I have personally spoken to residents of different counties, and they have all assured me that the relocation is not the issue.

The reason I am making these types of statements is because we can do better in our hiring practices. As a citizen of Lawrence County, have you ever asked yourself, “How many African American secretaries, guidance counselors, teachers do we have in the Lawrence County School System”?
