I want to say thank you to all the individuals, churches and businesses who helped with the Lawrence County Education Retirees Association’s “Satisfying Kids Improves Performance” project for the 2016-2017 school year.

Thank you for donating food, school supplies, money and time to make this project a success. You are helping to feed hungry children in Lawrence County.

We pack 87 bags of food for children every week that school is in session. Our group sends 54 packages to Moulton Elementary School and 33 to Speake Elementary School.

All other elementary schools in Lawrence County are supported by their local communities.

Thank you to Moulton Baptist Church for allowing us to store and pack the food in the church basement. Thank you also to Greg Morris at Foodland grocery for ordering our food in bulk and finding deals on the food to help us get a better price. He also provides all the plastic bags we need.

It takes approximately $10,000 per year to fund this project.

Thank you again to all of you who so generously supported this project. Remember, you are feeding hungry children in Lawrence County.

If you have questions about this project, call JoAnn Medendorp at 256-476-5512. If you would like to donate money for the 2017-2018 school year, make your check out to LCERA SKIP and mail it to JoAnn Medendorp, 196 Betty Street, Moulton, AL 35650.

Thank you again to all who have so generously supported this project.
