The St. John Paul II Falcons  escaped a scare from East Lawrence Friday night.

The Eagles, who were beat soundly by the Falcons last year, played it tough before St. John pulled away late. The Falcons are coming off an 8-3 season.

Dylan Hunter had a big game for the Eagles, scoring two touchdown runs of a combined 42 yards. His second cut the lead to 23-13 late in the third quarter. He finished with 172 yards rushing on 21 attempts.

The Eagles will travel to Lauderdale County next week to open region play.
