Lawrence County will be well represented this Saturday when it hosts the AHSAA cross country state meet as all three of its county teams will be running. 

Hatton’s girls and boys, along with Lawrence County’s girls finished second in their respective sectional races last week. Lawrence County and East Lawrence’s boys finished third in their races. 

Emily Daniel won the 5A girls sectional in Scottsboro, finishing with a time of 19:38.13. The Williams sisters Taylor and Savannah finished in the top five at three and five respectively.

Hatton’s Ally Amerson and Alondra Aranda finished three and four, while Neidyn Lopez finished six to lead the Hatton girls. Carson Graves finished three for the boys and Jairo Lopez nine in the 1A-2A sectional in Madison. 

Steele Joiner finished six overall in the 5A boy’s sectional and Peyton Davenport led East Lawrence by finishing ninth. Coleman Garner wasn’t far behind Davenport at 12. 

All three teams will be running this Saturday at the state cross country meet, held here in Lawrence County at the Oakville Indian Mounds. 

Hatton’s girls will race at 8:30 a.m. while the boys will race at 9:30. 

East Lawrence boys are up next at 10:50. 

Lawrence County will close it out. The girls will race at 11:10 and the boys at 12:10.

Award shows to award All State runners and state champions/runner ups for each classification will follow the conclusion of that classification’s races.
