Lady Devils’ bats go quiet in loss to Hartselle

Less than a week after earning a huge 7-5 win over Hatton, Lawrence County couldn’t find the same magic against Hartselle.

The Red Devils couldn’t get the bats going in a 4-0 loss to the Tigers, despite a strong defensive showing.

“We played well defensively and pitched well enough,” said head coach Josh Graham. “They’re a good hitting team and we played well enough to win we just couldn’t get the bats going and that’s what’s frustrating.”

The game went scoreless through the first few innings, largely thanks to a huge homerun robbing catch by Sadie Thompson.

Hartselle still managed to knock two out in a single inning to take a 3-0 lead and eventually win 4-0.

With the area tournament coming up Graham hopes his team can shake off the inconsistency.

“We have to grow up quick,” he said. “Defensively we’ve done well enough all year to win some games but we just have to have some people step up and get some hits.”
